Identity Theft

Identity theft is not a new crime but has become more threatening in recent years.  As many as 10 million American have become victims of identity theft each year since 2003.

According to federal statistics, these individuals can spend up to 5,840 hours undoing whatever damage has been done against their identity.  In addition to the time spent, victims lose an average of $1,820 to $14,340 in wages and usually end up spending over $1,000 in repairing their records.

Victims of identity theft may have trouble getting credit approval and may have insurance and interest rates.  Due to their new credit rating, many victims may also have difficulty getting a job because some negative information may be impossible to remove from their record.

It is because of this growing threat in our nation that Eric Scott Financial is hosting a FREE Shred Day at their office the day after the tax deadline hits.  This is the perfect time to shred any documents with your private information.

Eric L. Scott, the President of Eric Scott Financial and host of Retirement Adventures, heard on 1450 AM every Monday afternoon at 4:00, believes it is very important to protect your identity.  He is working closely with Cintas, a shredding company certified by the National Association for Information Destruction, to create a fun and safe environment where the community can shred their personal documents.  Cintas will also have a lock box on site where you can dispose of your hard drives and discs.

Mark your calendars for April 19, 2011 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and drop by Eric Scott Financial at 352 E. Riverside Dr. in Saint George.  Shred your documents, receive free information about identity theft, meet Eric and his team, and enjoy some complimentary refreshments.  We’ll see you there!
