Senior Week… Help Support Our Veterans

Issue 43.11

The Senior Sampler has worked for the last year to put together a week of fun events for you our readers to enjoy and by purchasing tickets to these events you will be helping the Veterans to furbish the new Nursing Home being built for them in Ivins. The event is taking place from Monday November 7th-12th.
The center page of the program inserted this week in your Senior Sampler gives you a time table of all the events we have taking place during Senior Week. So please check them out.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have 4 action packed days for you of games, competitions, interesting classes, line dancing, zumba, entertainment and free prize bingo. You have a choice which things you want to do. All our day activities take place at the Washington City Community Center.
If you book your day tickets by Saturday November 5th as well as having access to that day’s events you will receive a free lunch and a free pass to all that the Washington City Community Center has to offer e.g. swimming, exercise classes, walking track and exercise equipment.
You can buy your tickets at the door but they will not include lunch or Community Center pass.
Tickets can be bought for a certain day or a full week pass. Tickets for Monday to Thursday are $7.50 per day and can be bought on line at www.seniorsampler.com or from the Sampler office.
Friday and Saturday we have a Craft Fair, Expo and health screenings, entrance to that is a minimum donation of one dollar at the door. Also on Saturday we have a Show and Shine Car and Bike Show at the Park next to the Community Center, the entrance fee for this is $3 and children 15 and under are free.
A week pass bought by Saturday November 5th will give access to all the above mentioned events at a reduced cost of $25. Our Opening Ceremony will be at 9am Monday morning with a Presentation of the Colors by the Veterans and the Pledge of allegiance followed by a few words from Senator Dave Clark who has played a large role in helping the Veterans get their Nursing Home. The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a Pancake Breakfast, so if you have a ticket for Monday it will include the breakfast.
Tuesday morning at 10am we have the heat of the Senior Talent Show where 8 acts will be chosen from the 17 entries to perform that evening at the Cox Theater. The morning judges will be James O’neil Miner, Brodie Perry and Melinda Larson. So if you want to see the heat of the talent contest as well as the final, make sure you have a Day ticket for Tuesday or a week pass.

We also have events arranged for several evenings that week and all the proceeds from these events will also go to the Veterans Nursing Home.
Monday evening at the Cox Theater we have a talent packed Benefit Concert starring BRODIE PERRY, the HERITAGE CHOIR, HEIDI ANDERSON and the ST. GEORGE DANCE COMPANY. Tickets are $25 from the Cox Box office.
Tuesday evening at the Cox Theater we have the final of our Senior Talent Competition and a 50 minute Concert from our 3 judges MICHAEL BALLAM, JAMES O’NEIL MINER and MELINDA LARSON. Tickets are $25 from the Cox Box office.
Wednesday night is our Country Night and BBQ with catering by Staheli and dancing to CLASSIC COUNTRY. You can purchase a ticket to the BBQ and Dance by Tuesday November 1st for $15 or just the Dance for $10, tickets to the Dance can also be bought at the door.
Saturday night to end our Senior week we have a GALA BALL (Black Tie Event) with dancing to the big band sound of the MICK JONES BAND and light refreshments. Tickets are $25 online at www.seniorsampler.com , from the Sampler office or at the door. The Country Night and Gala Ball are being held at the Washington Community Center, in their Reception Center which has a separate entrance on the side of the building.
We hope we have something planned that you would like attend which means you will be helping to support our Veterans Nursing Home and hopefully having fun yourself.
If you can’t attend but would still like to help we are in need of silent auction items that anyone would like to donate.
If you want more information call the Senior Sampler office 673-7604, our address is 581 East 100 South, St. George. We look forward to seeing you there.
