Genealogy Corner… Tree Seek

Issue 24.12

I have had a lot of fun lately creating nine generation fan charts using the free software at treeseek.com.  Treeseek.com is a fully automated service that creates unique high quality genealogy charts from FamilySearch data. You specify the starting person for your chart and they do the rest. No data entry,no waiting,no high prices, and no GEDCOM files.

This program searches and reads the data in new.FamilySearch.org family tree and uses the information there to print reports and charts using the data from FamilySearch.org.  First you will need either an LDS Account or a FamilySearch Account and access to new.familysearch.org.   See https://familysearch.org/ and click Sign In in the upper right corner.  If you don’t have an account, you can create one there.

When you create a chart you can easily see the missing ancestors in your nine generations.  This helps us know where we need to focus our efforts,on finding the missing ancestors.  Tree Seek is a division of Misbach.org,a company who has been creating genealogy charts for over 50 years.  The old charts were published blank to be filled out by hand.  Today they have attempted to make this easier by filling out the chart for you.  They do this by obtaining your genealogical information from FamilySearch.org or Geni.com.  The only thing you need to do is provide a starting point to begin creating your chart.  You must have an account with either FamilySearch or Geni to use this service.

Tree Seek is a certified FamilySearch affiliate service that cares about your data.  They will not share your information with anyone.  Creating a chart at treeseek.com makes a PDF file that you can print or take to a local print shop,Steamroller or Kinko’s,etc. to have it printed larger.  I printed mine 24 x 36 and put it in a poster frame so I can see it.  You can also upload it to online printers at generationmaps.com or Genealogycharts.org.

Visit their website to see all the types of charts they can create for you.  https://treeseek.com/mytrees.php
