Protection From The Unpredictable

Issue 24.12

Life is unpredictable and sometimes accidents do happen. Protect yourself with personal liability insurance. Personal liability insurance provides protection from financial loss when someone is injured at your home, or if you accidentally injure someone or damage their property while away from your residence. It also includes coverage for medical payments and liability protection.

For example, if a neighbor’s child is injured while playing at your home, your personal liability coverage will pay for the medical treatment, up to the policy limit on a covered loss. Medical payments coverage is provided regardless of whether you are legally liable for the injury.

In addition, if you are sued and found legally liable, the liability coverage will pay damages and defense costs. In some situations, these bills could be substantial and your insurance protection would be necessary to maintain your financial standing.

Personal liability coverage is generally affordable and typically provides coverage between $100,000 to $1 million. Excess liability or an umbrella policy is available if higher coverage limits are needed. The amount of coverage you choose depends on your unique needs.
