Preparing For Your Doctor Visit

Issue 36.14

Are you getting the most out of your doctor’s visits?  Doing just a little bit of preparation ahead of time will help you make the most of your visit!

First, come with one main problem you want to get addressed.  If you don’t have one main problem, you might be able to address two to three smaller problems but don’t bring in a laundry list of problems expecting to get them all resolved in one visit.

Second, if you have never seen this provider before, come prepared with a list of your past medical problems, any past surgeries, and a list of any allergies to medications and the reaction you have had to them.  Past medical problems include any medical problem you have been treated for on a regular basis or hospitalized for.

Third, whether this is a provider you see weekly or a new provider, have a current list of all and any medications, vitamins, and/or supplements you may take.  Make sure you have the names, dosages and how often you take them written down.  If you know why you take them, this is always helpful too!

Lastly, if you have been seen by a different provider (or more) recently or have been hospitalized, please write down their name, about when you saw them and for what or where you were hospitalized at.

I’m  the kind of physician who wants you to be involved in your medical care.  When you are involved the healing tends to be faster because you always leave a visit feeling more aware and informed of your health, medical problems, medications and what you are being treated for.

If you this is the kind of care you want your physician to provide, please contact me, Dr. Radley at my office at 435-673-9653 or visit my website at www.drradley.com to learn more!
