Introducing Hughes Mortuary

Issue 42.15

As a new contributor to the Senior Sampler I would like to take this opportunity to introduce us and a little of our philosophy.  When faced with the death of a loved one or pre-planning for yourself, you will be making many decisions, one of which is what mortuary you will trust with the final arrangements.  You do have a choice and the task can be daunting.  We are here to help.

Hughes Mortuary is located at 1037 East 700 South, just a little over a block west of the Hospital.   This is a permanent location for us as we have purchased the property and added additional space. We recently acquired an adjoining parcel of property for our planned expansion as we work to provide a dignified and comfortable facility to serve our families.  Our goal is to have a facility that will feel like home, where you feel comfortable in visiting and at peace knowing you or your loved one will be well cared for.  We are excited about our planned expansion coming very soon.

We are also nearing completion of our Hurricane facility, the former police station right on the bend as you head to La Verkin.  This will help us to better serve those on that side of our county.

These facilities are a considerable investment and are part of our commitment to the community we serve to make sure you know we are here to stay.  These facilities have been slow in coming as we have been going the old fashioned way and avoiding excessive debt.  This helps us with one of our goals; provide affordable service without sacrificing quality.

Hughes Mortuary is owned and operated by myself, Jimmie Hughes, Funeral Director and my wife Tawny.  We consider this a family business as all those we serve are treated like family and we consider them as our family.  We truly feel this and have a passion for what we do here and strive to give the very best service at an affordable price.  The best satisfaction we get from our sometimes stressful job is a satisfied family that we have helped.  We will accept nothing less than giving our 100% to serve those who trust us to help in their time of need.

Funeral homes traditionally are passed down from generation to generation.  Many families return to the same funeral home for each loved one that passes away.  Second and third generation funeral directors need to do very little to stay in business as families return out of habit.  Here at Hughes Mortuary we are a first generation funeral family.  We know, and have come up with a little saying to remind us of that fact.  “We didn’t inherit your business, we have to earn it!”

Come and visit us, see our facility, learn about the options available to you.  We want to earn your business and promise to do nothing less.  Learn more by visiting our website at www.hughesmortuary.com.  We can be reached at 435-674-5000.
