2016-Are You Prepared?

Issue 52.15

Hughes Mortuary wishes you a Merry Christmas and a happy, safe and prosperous new year.  As I write this article the Holiday Season has rapidly reached its crescendo and the New Year will soon begin.

Like many of you I find myself thinking about a New Year’s Resolution.  Through my mind passes all the things that I would like to do, could do, should do, or at least think I should do.  There is a long list of things that I have put off doing for one reason or the other.  I even think about not even making a New Year’s Resolution so as to not be disappointed. So just know, for those of you in the same position, you are not alone.

One of the things that most of us put off, and it is understandable, is a funeral plan.  Yes I said it, a funeral plan. Now why would anyone want to think of death and funerals as part of a New Year’s Resolution? Simply put, because the fact is that we all have that infamous date with death.  It is not a matter of if, but when.  As surely as we were born, we will die, and someone will be making the decision of what to do with your mortal remains. Without a plan a spouse or other family member, while grieving, is left to make many decisions that include not only the immediate concern of the final disposition of your remains and how to pay for it, but many other very important financial and emotional decisions.  These decisions are best made prior to this guaranteed event.

SOMEONE WILL NEED TO MAKE THESE DECISIONS.  WHY NOT YOU, AND WHY NOT NOW?

Remove the decision-making burden from your loved ones by making personal choices well in advance of the need.

Let me share with you some of the benefits of a pre-arranged and most important a pre-paid funeral plan or what is called a pre-need funeral insurance policy that can be obtained through a mortuary. Please contact us at Hughes Mortuary for more information.

1- Obviously #1 is peace of mind.  As stated above this is not something that we need to endlessly dwell on.  Get it done, be at peace and live your life.  I have had some say to me, “why do I care? I won’t be here.  Do with me what you want.”  This is true.  You will not be here, but guess what?  Your spouse or other family member will be here!  Do you care about them?

2- A Guaranteed pre-need policy protects you from increase in funeral costs.

3- An irrevocable pre-need funeral plan does not prevent you from qualifying for government benefits should you need to be a in a nursing or long term care facility.

4- These plans are generally transferable.  No longer living in that city where you bought your plan?  No problem.

5- Flexible payment plans that provide you with coverage for Accidental Death.

6- Transportation Benefit if you die away from home.

7- First Day or Guaranteed Issue with no medical exam needed.

8- Optional protection for your grandchildren.

To give you peace of mind, contact Hughes Mortuary to help you facilitate your needs and make a traumatic time much easier to go through.

Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
