Be Prepared

Issue 3.16

In the Scouting program, boys and girls are taught to be prepared in all areas of their lives – socially, physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually, and intellectually.  Preparation generally begins when we are young and continues through old age.  As senior citizens, it is never too late to consider our lives and the areas in which we can better prepare.

Most of us want to be in better physical shape.  There are many avenues that lead us to this goal, including surgery, medicine, diet, and exercise.  Southern Utah offers numerous gyms and sporting events in which to participate, including the St. George Marathon, Ironman, and the Huntsman World Senior Games.  We also boast numerous golf courses and recreational parks and trails that invite us to come outside and exercise.  These types of activities also tend to have a positive influence on our social lives.

As we go through life, we tend to have many experiences that teach us that we are okay, just as we are.  These experiences provide for our spiritual and emotional welfare.  We can also choose to improve ourselves intellectually.  There are many opportunities to volunteer, attend classes at local schools and businesses, and to study on-line.  I admire people that set a goal to read a book or a novel every week.

Some senior citizens have chosen to prepare financially for retirement while others have not.  No matter what circumstance you find yourself in, preplanning your funeral is an option that will help improve your situation.

As a preplanning counselor, I would like to introduce myself as someone who can help you plan for your final expenses.  We offer many options at Serenity Funeral Home.  Perhaps you need a complimentary preplanning guide or help understanding veteran’s benefits.  Maybe you are interested in a funeral or considering cremation.  Whatever your situation, I can help you outline the costs of your final wishes and make sure you are prepared.

Serenity Funeral Home is located just off Riverside Drive at 1316 S. 400 E., St. George, UT, (435) 986-2085, or visit us on-line at www.SerenityStG.com.
