A new year has begun, and many individuals are interested in putting their affairs in order. Pre-planning your final arrangements is an excellent way to accomplish this resolution. As you begin the cremation pre-planning process, it is important to remember that you are not just planning for yourself. You are making arrangements and decisions that will greatly affect your loved ones.
Simply telling your family members or friends that you wish to be cremated is not enough. Utah law requires a person to provide written directions, or “advance directions.” These directions include designating a funeral service establishment, providing directions for cremation arrangements, providing your signature as well as the signature of two unrelated witnesses, and providing resources to carry out the directions.
