St. George Welcomes New Glaucoma Specialist

Issue 47.11

The community of St. George and Southern Utah has grown dramatically over the past decade.  With the influx of new residents comes the need for more specialized medical care.  The Dixie Ophthalmic Specialists at Zion Eye Institute recognizes the need for advanced, specialized eye care.  We are the largest and most comprehensive multi-specialty eye surgery center in Southern Utah, and the only place that offers a full range of specialized surgical procedures, including retina surgery, pediatric eye surgery, cataract and LASIK surgery, and reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery.  And now we are proud to introduce Reed Jaussi, MD, southern Utah’s first and only fellowship-trained glaucoma surgeon.

Dr Jaussi is joining the Dixie Ophthalmic Specialists at Zion Eye Institute as of November 14th, and is accepting new patients and consultations.  Dr Jaussi received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, and completed his ophthalmology residency training at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.  He went on to obtain his Fellowship training in glaucoma at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC.  He has been a surgical instructor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Georgetown University, and achieved a Masters Degree of Business Administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Dr. Jaussi is highly skilled in anterior segment eye surgery, including the most advanced cataract and glaucoma surgeries.  He is extremely experienced with the latest glaucoma procedures, including laser trabeculoplasty, trabeculectomy surgery, and Ahmed valve tube surgery.

We are pleased and excited to welcome Dr. Jaussi and add these glaucoma surgical services here in St. George.  There are many glaucoma patients here that may otherwise need to travel to Salt Lake City or Las Vegas for glaucoma surgeries, but now we can perform all of these procedures here at the Zion Eye Institute, which is much more convenient for patients.
