What Is Assisted Living?

Issue 6.13

Assisted Living is a communal living environment which is designed to maintain a resident’s independence and dignity while also providing healthcare for the individual’s daily needs. Such healthcare typically includes shower assistance, medication assistance, dressing & grooming assistance, meal preparation, continence assistance, exercise and wellness programs, laundry assistance, and housekeeping assistance. In many assisted living communities, scheduled transportation and planned activities programs are also available.

Residents in assisted living usually have their own rooms, suites, or apartments. They may also share their quarters with their spouses or roommates. Some residents may suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or other memory disorders; many assisted living facilities provide special units to care for such residents.

The Retreat at SunRiver St. George Assisted Living is a state-of-the-art assisted living and memory care community which offers its residents all of the services outlined above. More importantly, we do this with a conviction to maintain each resident’s independence and dignity.
