Life Is About Action

Issue 35.17

Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.

— Norman Vincent Peale

Over my career I hear good folks who come to arrange a loved one’s funeral say “I wish we would have come in sooner and planned this out.”

On the other side, I also hear from those individuals or couples who have taken the action and time to come in and pre-plan their funeral/burial or cremation arrangements say “Oh how grateful we are to have this planned” or their survivor say “We are truly grateful that my loved one took the time and fore site to plan ahead”

We all tend to make plans in advance every day of our lives.  We schedule doctor appointments, we save for vacations long before we take them. We buy auto insurance to protect our family in the event of accidents and health coverage for unexpected illnesses.

Many times, we don’t want to do these things we put off getting out and exercising, eating better or cleaning the garage.  Life is busy and if we allow it can be overwhelming at times.

The best remedy is simply doing something every day that you know needs to get accomplished.  You will find that by doing something things do get done and you feel that much better about that accomplishment.

A equally important process is discussing your funeral preferences with your family and discussing them with a funeral professional you trust.

The benefits of doing so include:

  • Provides peace of mind
  • Reflects your expressed wishes
  • Offers flexibility to move or change your wishes.
  • Relieves your family from the financial burden.

Finally, don’t take life so seriously. Take the action needed to accomplish the things in your life that are most important to you and your family.

Remember any action is better than no action at all.  If you wish to discuss your funeral arrangements contact Todd C Bonzo at Metcalf Mortuary (435) 673-4221 for a personal comfortable consultation.
