Announcing Alpha NeuroHealth Clinic… Who Are We?

Issue 45.17

Alpha NeuroHealth Clinic helps people regulate their brains using Neurofeedback (NFB) and talk therapy. We partner with doctors and mental health professionals to address problems of brain dysregulation including the anxiety-depression spectrum, ADHD, addictions, PTSD, behavior disorders, insomnia, eating disorders, migraines, seizures, autism, concussion and emotional disturbances.

There is a growing body of research showing NFB efficacy in treating these disorders. In fact, The American Academy of Pediatrics has determined that NFB is a level two evidenced based practice in the treatment of ADHD.

NFB heals the brain-psychotherapy heals the mind. Together, NFB and psychotherapy may create a lasting change by allowing you to make better decisions.

Neurofeedback training is EEG (brainwave) biofeedback. During a typical training session, sensors are placed on the scalp, and then high-tech equipment provides real-time feedback about your brainwave activity. The sensors measure the electrical activity coming from the brain-much like a physician listening to your heart through a stethoscope. No electrical current is put into the brain.

We know that the brain is designed to adapt to changes in the body and environment enabling us to function. However, for many reasons, the brain gets dysregulated, “stuck”, and doesn’t function as it should. Simply put, a dysregulated brain tends to be over-stimulated when it is supposed to be calm and under-stimulated when it is supposed to be attentive.

Many times, the brain corrects itself. When it doesn’t, this dysregulation becomes “the norm”. It makes sense that we should be able to re-train the brain to function better, the way it was designed. At Alpha NeuroHealth Clinic we work in partnership with clinicians incorporating NFB training into their treatment. When your brain is working properly, it allows you to change behaviors and thoughts.
