The Genealogy Corner… New FamilySearch Sooner!

shanna-jones1Issue 33.09

The LDS Church has developed a new temple and family history Web site at new.familysearch.org that will be introduced to the St. George area in the next several weeks.  This new Web site will allow members to more easily prepare and submit names for temple ordinances using the Internet at home, at a nearby family history center, or anywhere the Internet is available for personal use.

TempleReady is being replaced.  Using the new.familysearch.org Web site will be the only way ancestors’ names can be prepared for temple ordinances.  TempleReady will no longer be used to prepare family names for the temple and will be removed from family history center computers.

Family history consultants are the keys to a successful family history program.  The role of a family history consultant is to help members find their deceased ancestors and use this new process to prepare ancestral names for the temple.  The family history consultants have had access to the new.familysearch.org Web site for a couple of months now, and will have two weeks’ notice when their stake is going to go online to get prepared.  Family history consultants should be current on the preparation instructions and information regarding the rollout of the new.familysearch.org Web site in Utah.  FamilySearch is asking for each family history consultant’s help with the preparation activities to ensure a successful implementation of the new temple and family history process.

The St. George Temple has also asked that you are careful to submit more than one name on each FOR [Family Ordinance Request].  Click “No Print Later” as you are submitting names and then print a group of requests at once on only one FOR.

The Temple would also like you to review your names on NFS [New FamilySearch] before you print the FOR to make sure the females are female and the males are male.  Unnamed children can also just be submitted with the surname.  Miss or Mr. can be written on the cards.
