Senior Week November 7th-12th at the Washington Community Center

Issue 20.11

We have the entry form for those that wish to take part in the competitions so please get them filled in and sent back to us as soon as you can so we can start getting the events ready that you are interested in. This is our first attempt at organizing a big event like this so please contact us and let us know  your ideas if you think we should be doing something different. If you think the price we are charging for something is too high and stopping you from taking part please let us know and if we get a lot of complaints we will try and adjust it.
The money we make from the event goes to cover the costs of the event and to our Charity the Veterans Coalition to help them furbish the new Nursing Home being built for them in Ivins but the main reason for the event is to give you our readers a fun week so we are trying to keep entrance costs down at a price we hope you feel is reasonable and not a price that will stop you taking part.
I mentioned our Talent contest last week, I know we have a lot of Senior talent in this area so I hope all of you who are Singers, Dancers, Musicians, Comedians, Poets, Magicians etc. will come and share your talents with us. The 8 finalists will perform Tuesday evening at the Cox auditorium along with performances by our Judges singer Michael Ballam, pianist James O’neil Miner and Singer/Dancer Melinda Larson. Prizes will be given to the first 3 winners. Tickets will be on sale shortly for this show.

We now have the Patriotic Lovelocks at the Senior Sampler office, the price is $15 per lock. We are having a special gate made for you to put these Patriotic locks on; it will be available just after Senior Week and it will be erected on the grounds of the Veterans Nursing Home. All the proceeds from the sale of these Lovelocks go to our veterans.
Patriotic Lovelocks are designed for you to symbolically lock your love to your brave and honored veteran and can have your own personal message inscribed on the back. We will be out and about at different events promoting Senior Week and will have Lovelocks with us for sale, or you can stop by the Sampler office.

For Senior Week we will need lots of volunteers to help run it so please if you would like to be a volunteer please call and give me your name and telephone number 673-7604 or email sampler2@infowest.com.
We would also like to do a silent auction to raise funds so if any of you would like to help by donating something or make something to donate, that would be fantastic and would greatly help the cause.

For the daily activities taking place at the Washington Community Center you will be able to pre buy a week ticket for $35 this gets you entrance into everything that is happening at the Center for Senior week Monday to Saturday and includes the opening ceremony with pancake breakfast, lunch Monday to Thursday and the Antique car show on the Saturday.
We will also be doing pre booked daily tickets for those that only want to go a certain day; the cost will be $7.50 and will include lunch on Monday to Thursday. Day ticket for Saturday with Antique car show will be $10 without $7.50
Tickets bought at the door will be $10 a day and the cost for the car show on its own will be $5.

I will give you more information each week as we finalize more activities.
