Senior Week

The Senior Sampler Newspaper is hosting a new senior event this year and most of it will be held at the Washington Community Center on November 7th-12th, the event is called Senior Sampler Senior Week.
The reason for the event is to give our readers the over 50s a fun week and to raise money to donate to the Veterans Coalition to use to furbish the new nursing home being built in Ivins

Each day of the week we will be holding some fun competitions for anybody over the age of 50 years please check out our competition entry form on the adjoining page to see the different competitions and if you would like to take part please fill it in and send back to us with your entry fee.

As well as the competitions each day we will be holding interesting classes for you to join in along with fun games and entertainment. Most days the events will start at 10am and end at 5pm. Monday to Thursday we will also provide a free lunch.
We will open the event at 9 a.m. Monday Nov.7th Governor Herbert has been invited along with Senator David Clark to be our speakers; we will open with the flag ceremony and possibly a military band. After the opening ceremony we will have a pancake breakfast before the day’s events start.

Friday and Saturday we will also have a have an Expo and craft fair plus Saturday an antique Car Show.

We also have some great evening events:-

Monday evening Nov.7th a concert at the Cox Theater, tickets will be available from the Cox Theater Box Office $25, next week I should be able to say who will be performing.

Tuesday evening at the Cox Theater the 8 finalists of the talent contest plus performances from our judges Michael Ballam, Melinda Larson and James O’Neil Miner. Tickets will be available from the Cox Theater Box office. $25

Wednesday evening at the Washington Community Center Gym, a Country night and BBQ with a live country band, tickets $15

Saturday evening to end the weeks festivities, at the SunRiver Ballroom we will hold a formal Dinner Dance with a 3 course meal and a live dance band, tickets for this are limited as we will only have seating for about 200 guests, so get your tickets early if you wish to go. Tickets $55

Soon tickets will be available on our website store page, and from the Senior Sampler office, pre-paid tickets are cheaper than tickets bought at the door. I will let you know when the tickets go on sale

This should be a fun week so if you are over 50 please come and join us; we have so many things happening during the week there should be something you will each enjoy.

One of the competitions we are doing is a Fun Dog Show so those of you with dogs please bring them with you and have great afternoon with us. We are having several competitions cutest puppy any breed, best Veteran any breed, best rescue dog (any dog that has come from an animal shelter). Most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, waggiest tail, dog the judge would most like to take home, dog most like it’s owner and most appealing eyes. Prizes will be given to the winners.
