BeeHive Cottages Residents Dazzled By The “Angels”

Issue 15.12

Springtime at the BeeHive Cottages began this year with a BANG!!  Our residents were dazzled by the Blue Angels’ precision flying skills at the “Thunder Over Utah” Air Show at St. George Airport.   The Angels in their blue and gold F-18 Hornets thrilled everyone with their fast paced, high performance choreographed maneuvers including formations in which they flew within inches of each other.  At one point, two Angels appeared to be destined for a head-on collision at high speed before narrowly gliding past one another sideways at the last minute.

We all tried our hardest to keep up with the massive aircraft soaring in every direction imaginable including thrilling loops, synchronized twists and dizzying spin moves.  The roar of the planes immediately grabbed our attention each time as the Angels came screaming towards us so fast that we thought we would miss them if we blinked.  We definitely witnessed thrills like never before, including the “wing walker” who took our breath away as she defiantly walked the wings of a biplane without a parachute.  Although we wouldn’t ever dream of adding that activity to our “bucket list”, we were simply spellbound watching her astonishing performance.

We also have a pretty extraordinary airplane pilot that is part of our family right here at the BeeHive Cottages.  Doris Ollett, one of our residents, was actually one of our Country’s premier female pilots who blazed the trail & flew with Amelia Earhart during her early career as a test pilot.   Doris has shared numerous hair-raising stories from her high flying career.  She is but one of the many fascinating people that reside here at our BeeHive Cottages
