At BeeHive Cottages Our Flag Flies High!

Issue 25.12

When many of us were young, we started each day of school by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.  Over the years, our Flag has become more than just a symbol of our nation — it is a symbol of the founding principles and ideals of our nation that we hold sacred.   It has become a representation of all that is good in our country and of our brave patriots that were willing to pay with their lives to protect our freedom wherever & whenever it has come under attack.

At BeeHive Cottages, we fly our Community flag as a symbol of freedom, pride & respect.  We also celebrate those proud veterans that have become part of our family here including Boyd Hamp, Manny Nuevo, Meg Gilgen, Hal Brandt, George Brinkerhoff, Fred Crockett, Bill Patterson & Jerry Haslam.  Another veteran, Peter Basker, was only a member of our family for approximately a year, but his influence lives on.  Even though he had developed a serious illness due to his service to our country, he fought against his disability so that he could assist in raising & lowering our flag.  His determination to succeed, in spite of all the struggles he dealt with on a daily basis, was an inspiration to us all.

Our most recent Community flag was retired on May 31, 2012 in a flag ceremony conducted by the Southgate Second Ward Scout Troop.  Our new flag, which measures 10’ X 18’ and now flies high above our Community at the top of our 50 ft. flag pole, was purchased originally by a soldier stationed in Afghanistan.  When he was reassigned he brought the flag home with him.  The American Flag has always been the standard of our nation, going before our soldiers into battle and always the last thing taken down when they leave.   We will fly our flag forever high to pay tribute to all those that continue to make the ultimate sacrifice, in addition to those that have already risked their lives for our freedom, including our beloved friend Peter – he was one of our own.

At BeeHive Cottages, we are much more than simply real estate – we truly are a family.  Come experience the BeeHive difference for yourself!
