Celebration of Life — For Marilyn Mezer

Issue 19.13

It always saddens us when we lose a member of our BeeHive Cottages family, especially one who has been an integral part of our lives for many years.  Marilyn’s passing was so quick & unexpected — that it has left many of us with feelings of shock, sadness & grief.

Marilyn lived a remarkable life in which she was most proud of her two children, Harry and Andrea, along with her three grandchildren and her great grandson.  She was a highly accomplished artist who produced needlepoint works of art including patterns that she created & sold commercially.  She took great joy in generously giving her works of art to others.

I admired her for her tenacity and her ferocious approach to life.  She faced many challenges in her later years, including 3 bouts of cancer which she confronted head on.  She was a private person who kept her suffering to herself – most who knew her had no idea when she was undergoing months of chemotherapy.  Illness never stopped her from moving on with her life.  She faced every challenge with incredible resolve and determination to overcome any obstacles.  I marveled at her ability to maintain her wonderful sense of humor throughout her illnesses.

I was also in awe of her nearly insatiable desire to continue to learn & grow.  While she possessed a lifelong love of games, like backgammon & crossword puzzles, it was only in recent years that she studied & nearly mastered the game of bridge – playing in several local tournaments.

Our BeeHive Cottages family is planning a “Celebration of Life” for all those that would like to gather to pay their respects to Marilyn’s family and to remember the life she lived.  Our gathering will take place on Tuesday, May 14th; at 7PM in the BeeHive Cottages Community Center at 2041 S. Mesa Palms Drive in St. George.

Come share your joyful memories and painful loss, and by doing so may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy.
