Genealogy Corner… BYU Conference On Family History And Genealogy

The 45th annual BYU Conference on Family History and Genealogy will be held in the BYU Conference Center, July 30-August 2, 2013.  The conference will offer 140 courses on a variety of riveting topics such as DNA Research, methodology, FamilySearch, Ancestry.com, Youth and Genealogy, various international research, and even special courses designed to help consultants with their calling.

The conference also offers an exhibit area with dozens of vendors displaying family history programs and products.  The cost of regular registration is $180 for three days and consultants receive a $50 registration discount.  If you can’t make it to all three days, there is also a full day of FREE consultant training classes on Friday, August 2 where insight into how you can help others “Strengthen Ties that Bind Families Together Forever.”

The BYU Conference Center is located at 770 East University Parkway in Provo, Utah.  The keynote presenters are worth the trip, they begin at 8:30 a.m.  Tuesday features Elder Allan F. Packer, the Executive Director of the LDS Family History Department and a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Wednesday’s keynote will be given by Dennis C. Brimhall, the managing director of the LDS Family History Department and the acclaimed family history website FamilySearch.  Thursday J. Mark Lowe, a full-time professional genealogist, author and teacher who researches primarily in original records and manuscripts throughout the south will speak.
