Geek Speak… Black Friday Deals

Issue 46.16

The traditional super deals offered at 6 AM the day after Christmas (often in limited quantities such as the first 2 or 5 or 20 customers) have changed in recent years. Some stores opened earlier, some offered deals on Thanksgiving afternoon or evening. Many now have hourly deals, a few at 6, some at 7, a few at 8, etc. We now have Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday (which often has technology and computer deals) and even now many stores and internet businesses have “Black Friday” specials you don’t have to wait for. I saw some that started on the 1st of November.

This is good in most ways as people are not as prone to stepping on each other to get that toy or t.v. that everyone wants but that is only at the half off price at 3 AM and there are only 2 available. Here are some of the notable deals I have seen coming up. Realize that many stores are not sharing the deals they will make as I write this, so check your circulars in the days leading up to Thanksgiving for more.

There are thousands of deals out there, but I wanted to share some of the ones that caught my eye, especially if they involve technology. Next time we will look at some of the deals at other stores and online. You may not like the commercialization of Christmas, but you have to admit that some of these deals are pretty impressive, and always remember to have a backup of anything important. (Disclaimer – I can make no guarantees that these deals are accurate or that they will be in stock when you shop)
